Eavesdropping

Eavesdropping on someone else's conversation is very rude. But, it's great for writing songs!
People say crazy, funny, and insightful things when they think no one is listening.
Next time you're out with your friends, try listening to a near by conversation. Don't forget a notebook. If you hear anything interesting write it down. Write anything and everything you hear, and see. You never know what's going to lead you to the perfect song, or story.

Don't be discouraged if you get home and find a lot of nonsense. It happens, but I promise you'll find a great topic to write about, or you'll find a great song title, or a single line for your song, or poem.
This writing exercise is great for writers block. After hours, days, or weeks of absolutely nothing to write about, go out and eavesdrop on someone else's conversation. Not only is it entertaining, it will relax your stressed out and tired mind.

Don't worry about trying to explain what you wrote down, and don't worry if what someone says is strange, it doesn't need to be serious.  If someone says some and you like what they said, white down exactly what they said. When you read it later you may remember the exact conversation, or it will make you think of something else, either way you'll have something to run with. You may not even use the phrase or sentence that person even said. But whatever it was that caught your ear, it will help your writers block.

This writing exercise is fun anytime, but I recommend it only as a last resort. If you don't have writers block and your full of ideas, keep up the good work and keep writing.
