My album title

            I'm finally putting music to my lyrics. I know I usually write about lyrics, but this is new to me so I'm excited. It's been slow going, but I'm working on the right music to two of my songs. There's really not much I can say about it yet, except I'm enjoying the key of B for one of my songs. I'm probably over analyzing each note and which note goes with which lyric.

Enough about music, let's talk about lyrics!


      I've got titles of two more songs, only two songs written. Four is good enough for an EP, I think.  After I have released the EP I will continue work on a full album, including those songs.

       My album, entitled "Nothing New", is a collection of political, empowering, and un-new ideas that often flow through my mind, and many other un-new things that have inspired my song writing. The basic premise of the title of my album is that there is absolutely no new idea, so creating new art is impossible. When someone creates something "new" they've gained inspiration from other artists before them, of course they don't copy the ones that inspire them exactly, but their thoughts and ideas are not new. Someone else has felt the way I feel, said the things I say, and liked the things I like. Basically I'm taking all the things that have influenced, inspired, and anything I care about and writing about it.

          This probably sounds exactly what a lot of artists do, using things that inspire them to make their art. But, that just goes to prove my title, there is "Nothing New". But don't worry, all of my lyrics are original, it's the inspiration that isn't, un-original ideas like love, and never giving up.

I can't wait till I have my album finished.
