My album title

            I'm finally putting music to my lyrics. I know I usually write about lyrics, but this is new to me so I'm excited. It's been slow going, but I'm working on the right music to two of my songs. There's really not much I can say about it yet, except I'm enjoying the key of B for one of my songs. I'm probably over analyzing each note and which note goes with which lyric.

Enough about music, let's talk about lyrics!

Album Title

        I'm working on my first album, which I hope will be ready for recording by summer, and I'm undecided on whether I should have one of those fancy "self titled" albums or give in an actual name. If I do give it a name, should it be obscure and have nothing to do with any of my songs titles, or should it be the classic name-it-after-a-song-from-the-album albums?  These are questions that must be answered.

Music room

My husband and I have an extra room in our house that we do absolutely nothing with, except store things, so with our tax return this year we'll be creating an amazing music room. I will be doing my research on exactly what I'll need, like those foam egg crate things

Rhyming: Part 1

     Lyrics that rhyme are memorable, and easy to sing along to. They roll off the tongue easily and form easily to melody's.

 But, do not sacrifice the idea or meaning for the sake of a rhyme. Do not be so focused on rhyming that your song has no meaning, or makes no sense to the listener.

Have you ever felt like you weren't the creative type? You couldn't understand how some people could turn an ordinary situation into a colorful work of art.  Me too.

     Well, I learned an amazing way to write song for us less creative types. It's simple and quick!

Re-write

If you are an aspiring lyricist one of the worst things that get you down about writing is yourself. You are your own worst critic! That's good...to a point. Be hard on yourself and push yourself to be better but never doubt yourself and don't be scared to write something crazy! A great tip I learned was to re-write everything. You may think the song is perfect, you can't believe you wrote such an amazing song. Put that song away for a week or two, or even a month. When you come back to read it, you'll find something you can fix.

Life Should Be A Musical

I heard someone say they didn't really like music. What does that even mean?! I was absolutely shocked! I mean, sure not everyone is going to be so completely obsessed with music like me. I can't live with out it. My mother once said if I didn't sing everyday I would probably suffocate! But how could someone not like music. You may not like all music, but everyone likes music, at least they should!

I think not only was music created for Gods enjoyment but for ours. It's one of the greatest things the human mind can achieve. Music, along with all art forms. Painters, dancers,

Political Pop Songs

I was writing a song. It took me, I think, two months. Which, I guess, is relatively quick. I've heard of some people taking at least a year to write one song! But, it felt like forever. I still don't know if I'm finished with it. I like the title, and the theme. Unfortunately, I wont divulge my title or even the lyrics to any of my songs until I have them copy written.

I will say that the lyrics come from an important world view that I take very seriously. There are two sides to this topic, some for and some against it. I will also say that this world view is often used as part of political platforms, rallies, and debate.
